Please note: the spread of vitiligo is not abrupt—the body often gives early warning signs. If you notice the following three phenomena, pay close attention and take timely action!
1.Blurring of the White Patch Edges
Normally, the edges of vitiligo patches are relatively clear. If the edges begin to blur and the boundary with the surrounding normal skin becomes less distinct, this may signal that vitiligo is spreading. This is because melanocytes continue to deteriorate, indicating an active phase of the condition.
2.Darkening of the White Patches
In the early stages, vitiligo patches are usually light in color—often pale or milky white. As the condition progresses, the patches may gradually darken, turning into cloud-white or porcelain-white hues. Darker patches indicate more severe damage to melanocytes and an increased risk of further spread.
3.New White Patches Appearing on Other Body Parts
If new white patches appear around the original affected area or on other parts of the body, this is a direct sign of vitiligo spreading. It suggests that underlying factors are still active, causing damage to new melanocytes and leading to the formation of additional patches.
