Patients often ask, "If I do phototherapy every day, will I recover faster?"
I completely understand how you feel, but the reality is not that straightforward.
Phototherapy requires time to take effect, and it must be administered at specific intensity and frequency levels. If you overdo it or undergo treatment too frequently, you essentially increase the radiation dose. However, excessive exposure not only fails to speed up recovery but can also lead to various adverse reactions. For instance, many patients may experience blisters, burns, or even skin damage as a result. In such cases, the treatment not only becomes ineffective but may also worsen the condition of the white patches.
Therefore, we recommend that patients undergo phototherapy at an appropriate frequency—2 to 3 times per week is sufficient. There is no need for daily sessions.
